All About Bayern Munich 2021-22 kit and the club’s history
Before going through the Bavarian’s kits, let’s take a look at the club’s history through all these years.
Bayern Munich’s history
As we all know, FC Bayern München or Bayern Munich is the most successful club in German football history, with one of the oldest histories in Bundesliga.
Founded in 1900, Bayern Munich started its work with members of a Munich gymnastics club, after it was announced that footballers from the team are not allowed to
join the German Football Association (DFB).
That was when 11 of them decided to leave and start their own club which we know as Bayern Munich today.
Winning its first national championship in 1932, Bayern soon became one of the most successful and beloved football clubs in the world, but it was not selected for
the Bundesliga until 1963.
The mid-1970s was the time of great success for the team as they achieved a lot, including winning the European Cup three consecutive times (1974–1976) under the
captaincy of Franz Beckenbauer.
Overall, they have reached eleven European Cup/UEFA Champions League finals of which they have won 6. Their sixth title came in 2020.
So far they have the record of 30 national titles, including eight consecutives since 2013, and 20 national cups, along with numerous European honors.
Bayern Munich’s jersey history
Meaning “Bavaria”, Bayern initially wanted to use the Bavarian white and blue colors; however, they were not able to purchase blue shorts, and so they started
using black shorts.
When in 1906 Bayern was merged with Munchner SC., the color of the shorts changed to a dark shade of red, while their name and white shirts stayed the same.
After the change of their shorts, the club was ridiculed by the rivals for a while because of the red shorts, as the players were mocked about menstruating.
Later on, Bayern Munich decided to use red shirts and red shorts with white trims and since 1974, they have mostly stayed committed to the same colors.
However for a short period of time and between 1995 and 1997, Bayern used its old red and blue colors.
Bayern Munich kits’ manufacturers and sponsors
As we all may know, Adidas has been Bayern Munich’s manufacturer and sponsor for a long time now. But since when? The sponsorship deal goes back to 1974
when Adidas started manufacturing the Bavarian kits. However, before Adidas, Palme Trikotfabrik and Erima were the team’s jersey manufacturers.
Bayern Munich’s 2021-22 Season Kits
Let’s take a look at the leaked news about the team this year’s jersey.
Bayern Munich’s 2021-22 Season Home Kit
Though the club’s new kit is not officially revealed yet, based on leaked news published by Footy Headlines, we now know that Bayern Munich’s 2021-22 home shirt combines the club's traditional shade of red with the darker 'Craft Red'.
The main part of Bayern’s 2021-2022 jersey is red whilst 'Craft Red' is used for the sleeves and a 'V' shape on the chest.
To know more about the club’s official home kit, we just have to wait, but yet we know how it was inspired at the beginning.
The inspiration for the Bayern 21-22 Adidas home kit is so special, as it pays tribute to all the superheroes in the club’s world including all the players on the pitch and also the fans in the stands. Interesting! Isn’t it? That’s why we think the V letter on the shirt is also an iconic Superman logo for the club’s heroes.
Being officially released in July 2021, the jersey comes with Craft Red shorts and socks designed to complete the new Bayern München 21-22 home jersey.
Bayern Munich’s 2021-22 Season Away Kit
Officially released recently, the Bayern Munich 2021-22 away kit introduces a black and gold design, which is inspired by Munich and the Münchner Kindl (Munich Child), a symbol of the city.
Though many predicted the golden and black kit to present stars above the badge after their 30th Bundesliga title record this season, the new Bayern 21-22 away kit proved them to be wrong! That’s why now the club’s home shirt is expected to present the stars according to CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
"The fifth star on our home jerseys is the reward for 30 league titles since the founding of the Bundesliga in 1963. This has been earned by many generations of players and is proof of FC Bayern's decades of consistency at the highest level - FC Bayern fans can be proud of that”, Rummenigge said.
We also have to proudly mention that Bayern is now the first club to officially be allowed to wear the fifth star. Interesting. Huh?
Thinking about Bayern’s new away shirt color, we may recall many 2020-21 kits, including Ajax, West Ham, and Barcelona's jerseys. Lovely colors. Don’t you agree?
However, this is not the first time for Bayern to use black color for its jersey, as it has had many black shirts in recent history such as the 20-21 third UCL jersey.
The Adidas Bayern München 2021-22 away jersey present black as it main color, while gold-metallic is used for the golden club crest and the golden lettering and numbers. Using golden color, Adidas has provided an elegant contrast on the black background color. It also has to be mentioned that the three stripes on the shoulder and the sponsors' logos also shine in the same golden color.
The design of the kit is simple yet modern with white dots across the front side, creating a diamond look.
As we have mentioned before, the highlight of the jersey is the "Münchner Kindl", the emblematic figure of the city of Munich, which symbolizes the club's ties to the Bavarian capital and is a reminder of the roots of the German record champions, according to FC Bayern.
The Bayern Munich 21-22 away kit comes with black shorts and socks. The Münchner Kindl is also applied to the front of the socks.
The new away jersey was worn for the first time on the last Bundesliga matchday against FC Augsburg which was ended in a 5-2 victory for Bayern.
Bayern Munich’s 2021-22 Season 3rd Kit
Though the new Bayern Munich’s 2021-22 Season 3rd Kit is still not released, but yet there are rumors about the jersey swirling around.
According to Footy Headlines, despite the team’s last season’s third kit which featured a modern look, the new Adidas Bayern 2021-22 Season third kit will remind us about the club’s 1990s kits.
It’s been said to have a mountain graphic design, regarding to Alps mountains, being designed in white and night navy blue, while the logo, names and numbers come in active red. Also the Adidas logo on the shoulders are set to be in two colors (red and navy blue), inspired by the 1990s EQT series.
The club’s third kit will be officially released in August 2021.
Bayern Munich’s 2021-22 Season Goalkeeper Kit
